Dragons Too Much For Scarlet Knights in 28-5 Victory

Philadelphia - Drexel defeated Rutgers, 28-5, in a non-conference match held at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Dragons won eight of the ten matches as they improved their record to 17-10 while the Scarlet Knights dipped to 10-6.
Steve Mytych (Wyoming, Pa./Northampton) opened the match with a technical fall at 125 pounds over Andrew DelGuerrcio. After Rutgers took the 133-pound match in overtime, the Dragons won the next three matches capped by Ryan Hluschak's (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) 16-4 major decision win over Chris Norrell. Drexel finished the match by taking four of the last five, including a major decision victory by Jon Oplinger (Bath, Pa./Northampton) at 197 pounds. Oplinger is 6-0 in his last six matches registering two pins, two technical falls and two major decisions.
Drexel's next match will be on Saturday, Feb. 17 as the Dragons host No. 19 Nebraska in the Dragons' final regular season match. The match will begin at noon and will be preceded by Senior Day festivities as Mark Cartella, Chris Cowen and Nick Kozar will be honored.
